Clio Cosmetics: The most loved colour cosmetics brand in South Korea

In last week’s Broadcaster In Spotlight section when Saanchi from India shared her beauty routine, she kept raving about Korean beauty brands and how she absolutely stans a liner from one Korean brand. When we asked her to recommend one beauty product that everyone should give a shot, she said and we quote “I’d recommend the Clio Kill eyeliner – it does not BUDGE!”

Korean beauty skincare is currently ruling the beauty scene across the world, not only is it backed by scientific research and innovation, but K-Beauty brands also use high-quality ingredients and are extremely affordable. Who gave you the $1 sheet mask? Koreans did! So when someone from the community recommended a makeup product from a Korean brand and especially a liner that stays put we wanted deep dive deep and share the brand with the global beauty community.

Clio cosmetics is perhaps one of the most loved colour cosmetics brands in South Korea, some even call it the M.A.C Cosmetics of the east. They make a killer (you’ll see in a bit why we used the word ‘Killer’ here), easy to use products that have a professional finish. From foundations to lipsticks to blushes and palettes they have the whole gamut covered but some of its products like Clio Kill Waterproof Eyeliner has a cult following. Come rain, sweat and tears the super inky and smudge-proof liquid pen eyeliner doesn’t move once it has dried out. The only way it’s leaving your eyes is with makeup removing balms or oils. The eyeliner has a felt a ‘beginner-friendly’ tip so that you can control the thickness of the liner and don’t end up looking like a panda when you’re were aiming for a cat-eye. Just for clarification, we love panda’s they are our spirit animal, we just don’t want to have panda eyes. The liner comes in 4 shades which are variations of your brown and black, and is priced under $12 in all countries it available in, which makes it a total steal!

The Kill Cover Founwear Cushion XP foundation that has Niacinamide to reduce the appearance of pores, Centella Asiatica extract that soothes and moisturize the skin and SPF 50++ to protect against sun damage is also quite a rage amongst Koreans. Clio foundations are a Korean favourite in general as they are super long-wearing and have foundations to meet different coverage needs glowy, buildable and full coverage. It’s quite a bummer that they have only 4 foundation shades 🙁

Last but definitely not the least is the Clio Mad Matte lipsticks which many Korean YouTubers have touted as a dupe for lipsticks from Yves Saint Laurent, Estee Lauder & Tom Ford owing to its buttery formula that glides on the lip to deliver highly pigmented colour on the lips in one go without causing any drying, flaking or those gross lip wrinkles that appear after some time of application.
