Rachna has always been makeup lover. While her own makeup routine is pretty minimalistic, just the touch of makeup can elevate her mood and day!

Q.Out of Skincare, Haircare, Makeup and Body Care on which area(s) do you spend the most time, what is most important to you and why?
My order of preference would be skincare, makeup followed by body care and hair care.
However, I spend the most time on my makeup because I’m not an expert but usually take a maximum of 15-20 minutes.
Q. Can you take us through your everyday beauty routine? Skincare – I feel extremely lucky to have been blessed with good skin. However, it wasn’t until I was 27 that I experienced my first random bout of acne.Out of nowhere, I felt a hit at my self-confidence and I’m thankful to realise even more strongly, the importance of taking care of your skin. I have been very particular about my skin ever since. I love makeup too and I feel that your skin as a canvas needs to be prepped and healthy for makeup to look its best. Also, I may actually be addicted to my moisturiser, if that’s a real thing.
Makeup – I have always been a makeup junkie but working in the beauty industry only made my love grow deeper. You simply cannot underestimate the power that a touch of makeup can have on your mood and day! They say that diamonds are a girl’s best friend but I really think they need to update it to a fabulous, hydrating liquid lipstick! My makeup routine is usually minimalistic. I think this is because I have understood what works for me over the years and have thus been able to shrink my makeup kit drastically to use fewer but more effective products.
Bodycare – When it comes to body care, it all started with Bath and Body Works for me. Now, it’s all about indulging in brands like Forest Essentials and Jo Malone London. Once you try them, there is just no going back!
I love fragrances as well. A good perfume says so much about one’s persona. I never leave the house without wearing one and always have a travel size perfume in my bag.
Haircare – I know I can do better when it comes to hair care and do find myself taking my hair for granted. I have hair that’s straight and relatively healthy. Also, I put no heat to my hair so and make a conscious choice not to straighten, curl or even blow dry my hair, to be honest.
Face Masks: Glamglow’s ThirstyMud and Supermud are fantastic! For sheet masks, Forrest Essentials is my top pick but I also use them from Innisfree and The Face Shop as well. The Laneige Water Sleeping Mask is also divine! (Yes, I realise that I may have a problem).
Perfume: Currently wearing J’adore, Jo Malone London’s Peony and Blush Suede or Hermès Twilly
Shampoo: Bed Head
Conditioner: Currently using TRESemmé (it was lying at home)
Serum: Bed Head Ego Boost (I use this during summer and the rainy season to tame baby hair or a slight frizz)
Dry Shampoo: Batiste (Very much needed after yoga and before a meeting sometimes)
I can be slightly lazy but love using natural products and find myself doing all the three routines given below at least once a month. No recipes here, just single ingredients that have worked for me.
– Honey is the best for my face. I apply a thin layer for 15 minutes and rinse it off with warm water. It makes my skin super clean and clear
– I love using sugar as an exfoliator on my body. It makes my skin shine, feel smoother and takes off the dead skin
– I also put ghee or clarified butter in my hair for 15 minutes before a hair wash. It’s a great ingredient for softer, shinier hair
Q. What would be your one highly recommended beauty product, hack, service or DIY that you think everyone should give a shot?
I think a good moisturiser can change the game. I use the Clinique Moisture Surge during the day and at night and have seen a huge difference in my skin. It’s softer, more supple and just overall much healthier.
Q.Imagine your dream beauty product that currently does not exist. Why this product and what would you really want it to do for you?
My dream product would probably be a moisturiser, serum, primer and SPF all in one! I know a few combinations exist, but nothing I’ve tried has been ideal for me. I’d wish for this to literally be all in one, be luxurious but at the same time, not burn a giant hole in my pocket.
Q.Anything else that you would like to share with the Basic Beauty Broadcaster community?
I’m always on the lookout for fun combo packs and travel size products. They’re perfect to test products before buying them full size so that’s a little tip!
