Srishti is the quintessential urban girl. Days go by at the speed of light, crazy work schedules and constantly hustling throughout the day eventually started taking a toll on her skin leading to problems like skin congestion, acne and pigmentation. But she knew she had to take a breather and focus on her skin too because that too is very much part of her life. She combined classic Indian regimes and mixed it up with western luxury skincare and most importantly got consistent with her routine to transform her skin.
Read on to learn more about Srishti’s everyday skincare routine to achieve brighter and even-toned skin.

Q. Out of Skincare, Haircare, Makeup and Body Care on which area (s) do you spend the most time, what is most important to you and why?
Skincare is innate to me thanks to my naani and mom who swear by their night routines! While one educated me with traditional Indian skincare practices the other introduced me to the world of Chanel, YSL and Elizabeth Arden! Who was I kidding? I was spellbound by both, Indian classic and western luxury skincare. I was so infatuated by the whole process of going to bed smelling like a princess!
I started young with makeup and beauty, thanks to the unavoidable side effects of my profession as a theatre artist. Harsh lights, heavy-duty makeup, constant touch-ups, heat styling tools and sweat were an everyday thing! The mad travelling and work schedules left me struggling for free time. Being on the road, implied to constant changes in weather, diet, water and sleep. Cumulatively, this erratic lifestyle impacted my skin health negatively!
Years of investing heavily in good clinical skincare treatments, I would still end up disappointed. I was literally living on a roller coaster, happy skin days followed with bumpy days yet again.
That’s when I realised that occasional skincare alone wasn’t enough and I had to create the right balance between skincare and my lifestyle. I went back to recreating my mom’s night routines. I gradually introduced a more disciplined and consistent approach. Made a conscious change and turned over a new leaf. I haven’t stopped trying since then!
Being a lifelong sufferer of congestion and acne, and discolouration, I focus on sticking to brightening and non-comedogenic formulas. My routine is more apt for those living in tropical, urban settings whilst looking at achieving a more clearer and even skin tone.
Q. Can you take us through your everyday beauty routine?
Mornings, I use a gentle cleanser like the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser and follow it up with the CosRx Clear Pads for mild exfoliation, layer it with a facial treatment essence like the ginseng rich Lancôme Énergie de Vie lotion for instant plumping and hydration! It’s almost serum-like and my skin feels dewy and well moisturised. If I’m not pressed for time then I run it along with my Mount Lai Jade Roller for better absorption. It’s a good way to revive your fatigued skin. I alternate this with a brightening essence that either has vitamin C or Licorice root extract throughout the week.
I love using the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Complexion Correcting Serum and seal it with my favourite, Shisiedo Essential Energy Day Emulsion with SPF 30 PA+++. I make sure to reapply sunscreen during the day to this date, sun or no sun! Period!
Shiseido and Clarins are my favourite brands for tinted, non-tinted, swim-proof physical sunscreens! Their formulations pair well with everything and don’t scar you with issues like white cast and pilling. A major reason why I save using makeup foundations for only dressy, night outs!
Evenings, I follow a similar cleansing routine and generally start with double cleansing with the Dior Hydra Life Oil To Milk to completely melt off my makeup and sunscreen. Followed by the Kate Somerville Detox Daily Cleanser which is perfect for my blemish-prone skin!
Called Facial in a bottle, I use the Biologique Recherche PIGM 400 Lotion at least four times a week and love using Retinol in combination with Vitamin C, on other days. I also use the Sesderma Azelac RU Liposomal Serum and the Kate Somerville Retinol Vitamin C Power Super Serum in rotation.
For a more targeted treatment for the discolouration around my mouth and under eyes, I use the Biologique Oligo Protéines Marines
I cannot survive without Niacinamide. It’s mostly summers all round the year in Mumbai, India so I prefer using emulsions over moisturisers. The Face Shop Yehwadam Hwansaengoo Emulsion does it for me.
I enjoy spritzing a generous dose of the Avene Eau Thermale Spring Water amidst my routines! Use the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask or The History Of Whoo Hydrating Overnight Mask on days I’m looking for deep hydration. And no routine is complete without my lip oils from Clarins.
Q. What would be your one highly recommended beauty product, hack, service or DIY that you think everyone should give a shot?
I am a sucker for probiotic essences and I personally think that they work extremely well at healing acne and rosacea. I am always on the look out for lotions infused with skin-strengthening Bifida Ferment Lysate, soothing and hydrating Saccharomyces Ferment, sebum regulating, Galactomyces Ferment, skin conditioning and replenishing Lactobacillus Fermentation Extracts, brightening Rice Ferment Filterate (sake) that work at building a stronger immunity to aggressive, external factors naturally.
Neogen Real Ferment Micro Essence has a bunch of such ferment filtrates along with Niacinamide and I swear by it! If glowing skin is not enough, and achieving that juicy, plump DEWY DUMPLING look is your thing then please give this fragrance-free baby a chance!
Also, I think including a humidifier into my daily life has really been a game-changer for not only my skin but also overall health.
Q. Imagine your dream beauty product that currently does not exist. Why this product and what would you really want it to do for you?
Unfortunately, I am one of the many million Keratosis Pilaris sufferers. Treating KP mentally bogs me down and it requires me to be diligent with using the right body care in order to keep it under control, so I’d love the existence of having a clinical machine that would straight up get your chicken skin to disappear overnight!
Q. Anything else that you would like to share with the Basic Beauty Broadcaster community?
I’ve never been a fan of fads and trends and I’m all about maintaining the right balance between skin health and lifestyle. You don’t have to be elaborate and own everything in the world Just have a basic skincare routine and be consistent.
Invest in result-driven products that focus on supplementing your skin rather than succumbing to trying out every new cupcake in the market! A few good picks should do the trick.
No shame in reading up on companies and their brand values. Educate yourself and be a conscious consumer! GlowTok is my way of helping like minds make a conscious purchase. Besides saving a few pennies never hurt anyone!
