This Ayurvedic Soap has Korean-Indian Punita and Her Entire Family Hooked!

American born, Korean-Indian Punita Bajaj is on camera often. She pays a lot of attention to how she looks, especially with hair and makeup.

“I’ve gotten to know what I look good in and what I don’t. It’s been a bit difficult since I have certain Indian features, but am used to and influenced by the American look, but I also work in the Korean market. So, it’s definitely a learning process and my approach to beauty changes constantly.”

Q. Out of Skincare, Haircare, Makeup and Body Care on which area(s) do you spend the most time, what is most important to you and why?

Definitely skincare. I do not spend a lot of money on colour make-up. I can literally live off of samples and mascara. But, I try to invest a lot of TIME into my skin (not a lot of money). I think that’s the most important thing since it takes a lot to be diligent with skincare and a lot of effort, at least for me. Luckily, my mom has been investing in her skin since her teenage years. So she passed that habit down to me and I’ve been keeping up ever since middle school, which is when she got me my first skincare set. Then, moving to Korea opened my eyes to a lot more than home care, but dermatology clinics and so on. I’ve gotten facial massages and lasers done before, but it’s definitely more important to do your day-to-day routines more than heading over once a month or once a week to a skincare clinic. But it certainly helps to do both!

Q. Can you take us through your everyday beauty routine?

I start by using Tony Moly’s Green Tea No-Wash Cleansing Water to wipe off my make up. I’ll usually use 1-3 cotton wipes depending on how heavy or light my make up is. It’s super refreshing to take all that heavy cake off your face with lightweight cleansing water. Then I use the Chandrika Ayurvedic Soap I got off of iHerb to wash my face. It’s such a good face wash! Perfect for oily skin. I don’t have oily skin, but I love how it really gets into your pores and cleans it out. Quick Tip! I wash my face for at least 1 minute and specifically 30 circular motions on my nose to get the work done.

I’ve started using Esthederm’s City PRotect InCellium Spray right after I wash my face. It’s a really great facial mist so I incorporated it into my skincare routine. And I use it while I put my foundation on as well. For my skincare set, I generally use Clarins products since their line has worked for me for a number of years now. But, I stumbled upon Sunday Riley from California, and I’ve been loving their A+ High-Dose Retinoid Serum! And that’s my entire morning and evening routine!

I also have really dry skin so I always bring lip balm with me wherever I go. But my body gets really dry too. So, what works for me is a DIY coconut sugar scrub. It’s basically 2-part sugar and 1-part coconut oil, and I try to use it every other day in the shower after body wash. Then I can get out of the shower without having to put lotion on.

And for my hair. I have curly roots so I just blow dry my roots, generally, and give the back of my head some volume. I’m usually done with my hair in 15 minutes.

Q. What would be your one highly recommended beauty product, hack, service or DIY that you think everyone should give a shot?

COLLAGEN! I have really thin skin and really no elasticity. Eating collagen supplements is the best thing you could do for your skin. Seriously! I eat collagen fish powder with my water every morning before I eat anything. And it really restores that youthful bounciness in your skin. Trust me, it does not taste anything like fish. Consuming collagen really helps!

Aztec Secret, Indian Healing Clay, Deep Pore Cleansing!
This is insane. My whole family uses it. It tightens, it cleans, it lifts. It does a lot for a cheap price. My brother has always had oily skin and he uses it religiously just to clear out his pores instead of using those strips that kind of expand your pores. My mom also uses to tighten and actually softens those deep wrinkles. It’s definitely not permanent. But it’ll keep your skin healthy and looking fresh!

Q. Imagine your dream beauty product that currently does not exist. Why this product and what would you really want it to do for you?

Anything, be it cream, lotion, laser, or miracle to get rid of cellulite…Need I say more. Also, something to get rid of laugh lines. I know I should love my face, but it definitely makes me a lot older than I am. So, I would love some remedy to remove my laugh lines, especially when I’m not even laughing.
